In 2013, we will hold two contests and a writing master class.
The Second Annual Mormon Lit Blitz is open to submissions from any genre of up to 1,000 words of prose, 40 lines of poetry, or roughly equivalent lengths of graphic narrative or other forms. Submissions need not portray Mormons or have overtly Mormon content, but should be of particular interest to avid readers who are also active Mormons.
Lit Blitz submissions are due by March 18th, 2013 to firstname.lastname@example.org. Individual authors are allowed up to three submissions.
The Scripture Power! Contest for Midrash and Myth is open to submission from any genre of up to 2,000 words of prose, 80 lines of poetry, or roughly equivalent lengths of graphic narrative or other forms. Submissions for this contest should make literary use of the scriptures in some way: through allusion, borrowing of narrative structures, imaginative expansion, etc.
Scripture Power! submissions are due by September 16th, 2013 to email@example.com. Individual authors are allowed up to three submissions.
Everyday Mormon Writer will also host a Mormon Writing Master Class from June 27-29 at a cabin near Timber Lakes, east of Heber, Utah. Admission is by application only and will be capped at ten students. There will be no tuition charge for attendance, though students will be expected to make their own arrangements for travel and food.
Letters of application and writing samples of no more than 2,000 words will be accepted through 1 May, 2013.
